It was a major issue during the midterm elections 2025 - the trial of Sara Duterte our Vice President who was impeached just before the elections. Some of her political allies won seats in the Senate which will convene itself into a court to try her case. Her father the former President, Rodrigo Duterte, is himself accused in the International Criminal Court ICC of crimes against humanity of murder, torture and rape committed between 2011 and 2019. So both father and dauther are facing trials in the coming months.

I've discovered this android feature in the File Manager called PC File Transfer.  I Have Been looking for such a tool for a very long time. I have  pictures and images which I want to share and use in my blogs. I blog with my email. It is tough to seamlessly post with media from my phone to my PC. I love to compose blogs in the desktop because all my image apps are there. Easier to manipulate text and images in the PC where all my applications are.  I have to open a tab in my browser. Type in  http://192.168.100.239:55432/   and start to broadcast it in a secure wi-fi.  I can always do it this way at home. 

It made people a little apprehensive when electricity was turned off early morning on election day. But I have solar power lanterns ready for such an emergency.  This one needed a fix with a glue. The top cover came off easily.  I bought 3 more as they proved resilient and useful during blackouts. 

I had to really put this image front and center of this post. I have been waiting to get GIMP 3.x for a long time now. Finally getting the opportunity to use it for everyday use.  I upgraded from 24.10 to 25.04 hoping to get this update. Not sure I will get my wish. Happy to get it. :))

The upgrade tool in Ubuntu 24.10 is finally working. I received a notification that a new version of Ubuntu is ready to be installed. I got flag from my current system that Ubuntu 25.04 is ready to be downloaded and installed. After a short 15 minutes I got this notification of the newly installed version of Ubuntu.

I learned my lesson upgrading from LTS to LTS in Ubuntu on-the-fly. Too many things could break in the jump. The last time i did it, I had to do a clean install instead. So not doing that again. I decided to upgrade my LTS to the next version as soon as it is ready. Hello Ubuntu 24.10 Oracular Oriole.  The upgrade process is all graphical and on-the-fly. No data lost. No error message on a supposedly "experimental" ZFS on root system. I've found the ZFS on root quite the resilient operating system even after unscheduled power shutdowns and surges.  With Ubuntu 24.10 I get GNOME 47 and linux kernel 6.11. Since 24.10 was released October 2024, I also get after release patches already. Happy to report that none of my devices were left undetected. Everything's in its right place, to quote Radiohead. 

I bought the LG refrigerator last November 2024 but installment payments on my credit card only started today. Total purchase price is 17,996 for this 7.2 cubic feet model from Abensons.

I had to search for a linux driver for the device. Luckily, the Canon website has one downloadable for the printer and the scanner.

In order to streamline our free consumer communications offerings, we will be retiring Skype on May 5, 2025 to focus on Microsoft Teams Yup, Microsoft is retiring Skype on May 2025. My Mom just learned how to use this app last year. She now has to learn a new trick.

No one wins this. It is dumb.

I just can't email post this on blogger. Just had to try again. 

My Labtec speakers got busted. I think it was a lost contact in the soldering work. I have used these 2.1 budget speakers since 2007 so it has been a while. I am replacing it with the Edifier MR4 speakers. 42 watts total sound output. 1 inch tweeter and a 4 inch woofer. It's small just appropriate for the computer room.

Erlinda Apartment is a registered name with the Department of Trade and Industry. I paid the license and business permits last 15th and went to collect my documents on the 22nd. The fire safety certificate was not ready yet and they gave me a number I can call to follow up. 

Mother and I replaced our aging refrigerator bought ten years ago when we transferred to the back portion of our house and started renting out the front portion of the family house. I chose another LG 7.3 cu ft. refrigerator. I thought the year is going to end without anything new to report but... I replaced our microwave two days before 2024 ended. Here's the LG MH6565DIS 25L SMART INVERTER MICROWAVE OVEN.  I also got an email from RCBC about an unauthorized transaction in my credit card.  The bank issuer finally decided to replace the questionable card with a new one to be delivered 5 days from now. The old card which I am holding is now blocked. I received the statement of account with two items. One is the bank charging me for the annual membership fee. Mmm...
