I learned my lesson upgrading from LTS to LTS in Ubuntu on-the-fly. Too many things could break in the jump. The last time i did it, I had to do a clean install instead. So not doing that again.
I decided to upgrade my LTS to the next version as soon as it is ready.
Hello Ubuntu 24.10 Oracular Oriole.
The upgrade process is all graphical and on-the-fly. No data lost. No error message on a supposedly "experimental" ZFS on root system. I've found the ZFS on root quite the resilient operating system even after unscheduled power shutdowns and surges.
With Ubuntu 24.10 I get GNOME 47 and linux kernel 6.11. Since 24.10 was released October 2024, I also get after release patches already. Happy to report that none of my devices were left undetected. Everything's in its right place, to quote Radiohead.
