I have been planning this trip to Montalban Municipal Hall. The only ATM Phil Veterans' Bank have for Mom is there. Last year they decided to not join other banks. So she can't use other banks' ATM. The Municipal Hall is about 3 kilometers away, a good 7 minutes by public utility vehicle. But now under the shadow of a pandemic, it's a challenge.
Luck smiled on me. I got passed the checkpoint going to Montalban. I hailed a motorcycle man waiting for a passenger. He told me he could wait for me on my way back. So I won't have to wait for another motorcycle man which may or may not be there. On the way to the ATM there were people lining up for bank service and pawn shops. It is clear that people needed cash to purchase something. And for most of us that item is food.
I checked Mom's bank account and it is accesible. I checked her pensions. And the two months which were not collected were ready to be withdrawn. Very well. Mission accomplished.
I paid my motorcycle man 80 pesos which in normal times will cost me barely 10 pesos. I was happy to pay him.
