The situation started mid-2017 when I went to a doctor for symptoms of hypertension. I was over weight. My blood pressure was in the 150 systolic level. I was prescribed statins and losartan. Later SGPT levels reached the 50-60 range. Eight months ago my weight was 200 lbs and I was obese. Today my blood pressure is 120 over 77.
I quit my meds 7 months ago. I am not taking any medication now. Except I believe that food is medicine and vice versa. My dieting has brought my weight down to 175 lbs.
I am following a low carb high fat diet. It is easier to lose weight and keep them off on this diet. I got myself a complete laboratory exam last week, which I have been doing since 2017 at least 4-5 times a year. I am more convinced that the path to a healthier living is through nutritious food and dieting. My health markers are normal. Even my SGPT is 28.8 U/L which is the lowest it has been since the start of monitoring. My liver is healthy now.
My cholesterol and LDL is 4.61 mmol/L and 2.54 mmol/L respectively. This numbers are normal despite the high fat diet I am on. The body does maintain a healthy lipid balance when fat intake increases, as long as the source of fat is plants and high quality. I am continuing to eat vegetable salads with flax seeds, sesame seeds and extra virgin olive oil as dressing. It should now be my staple.
