Two Very A-normal Things Happened Yesterday

I was not referring to the Iceland volcanic eruption. As far as the Icelandic people were concerned volcanic activity were fairly regular events. I woke up yesterday to two things which doesn't always happen regularly. The first one was that the Colorado Supreme Court gave a decision to disqualify Donald Trump in the 2024 United States presidential election. Why was this abnormal? Because American judges refrain from telling American voters who they can vote for. Essentially that was what's happening here, although the decision will have to wait for the US Supreme Court. Don't get me wrong I happen to agree with the decision and its logic. The issue was that the fourteenth amendment of the US Constitution disqualifies a person to be an elector of President if after taking an oath he engaged in insurrection or rebellion. The Colorado Supreme Court affirmed a lower court's decision on the matter. The second item yesterday was Pope Francis' reversa...

2023 Summary Part 1

The year is coming to a close. I heard some medical news from China about hospitals getting swamped with respiratory cases. China denied this is unusual. It is the flu season after all. I have started a supplementation regime in 2023. I am taking the following: Berberine. No recommended dosage but I am taking 2 x 1000 mg caps. Combined with 250 mg milk thistle. Vitamin D3. RDI for it is 800 IU. I am taking 5000 IU caps. Combined with 200 mg Vitamin K2. Magnesium. Magnesium citrate at first and changed it to magnesium glycinate. RDI is 420 mg. I am taking 680 mg in a white gel caps. Omega 3. DHA and EPA are forms of omega 3. These are the active molecules of marine oils. Source is fatty fish oil. Salmon and sardines are good ones. I eat sardines but I am supplementing with 690 mg of EPA and 260 mg of DHA. Zinc Glycinate. Choline Bitartrate. Milk Thistle. These supplements are taken in two white gel caps. ZFS Unable to System Snapshot, bpool Is Full? Part 2

Happened again. after 3 months, usually after a barrage of kernel upgrades. My previous post regarding this problem still applies. You have to remove old kernels.  See my post    The problem persists because in Ubuntu zfs on root auto-snapshotting is turned on. You can list the snapshots  with this command:    # zfs list -r -t snapshot -o name, used, referenced, creation bpool/BOOT Note: the REFER and USED columns in the output. You can remove the oldest snapshots first with this command: # zfs list -H -r -t snapshot -o name, used, referenced, creation bpool/BOOT | head -n 5 | cut -c 35-40 | xargs -n 1 sudo zsysctl state remove --system This command removes the oldest 5 snapshots. You can repeat the command to remove more.

ZFS Unable to System Snapshot, bpool is Full?

I first encountered the problem after a routine update / upgrade of the system. Well there was a kernel upgrade and I have not checked how many old kernels are still left for backups in /boot. Apparently, there was a few and the partition is 85% full. Every software update included a warning because of the restriction in disk space. Also, zfs could not create snapshots. It is also full. This is not very clear to me. Snapshots were suppose to be diff copies so why would it take up a large space. Most of the snapshots are less than 2MB. Or 0MB. Another problem that popped up is the constant freezing of Rhythmbox. I don't know if the config files are corrupted. The CPU cycles from one to the next. Peaks for 5-6 seconds then on to the next CPU. This forced me to download Clementine and Audacious. But both applications do not find the zfs pool or don't show the zfs structure. Why not? My final solution is to reinstall Rhythmbox via snaps. I re-scanned the music libr...

Renter's ID and Business Licensing 2023

Last year's business permit application involved an undertaking of submitting lessee list to the Barangay in order to get them ID's including one for the lessor himself. I received a letter of notification just before New Year's Day. It informed me that I might be denied renewal of permits because I did not comply with this undertaking. So the Renter's ID is a serious thing now. When I went ahead and applied for a business permit renewal at the local government office everything went well except they want my list of lessee. So I had to backtrack and go to the Barangay and submit the list. They produced the ID's and I provided the photo ID's and of course have it signed by the lessee. After that, they pointed me to the cashier to pay the taxes and permit fees which totaled php15,305.00 ($280.33) During the payment of Fire and Safety department, they reminded me to bring my fire extinguisher official receipts of payment. I can pick up my new pe...

Covid Deja vu

It was January 2020. There was a breath of news about a growing medical problem in China. People were exhibiting symptoms of flu and cold but people reasoned that it's the winter season, it's the flu season. In a few weeks everything will soon be okay. By March 2020, more than half the world will turn to lock downs and travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 virus. It is January 2023 now. In China's Wuan province where the pandemic made its first appearance in 2020, a rising number of Covid-19 cases have been reported. Hospitals are inundated with people sick with the same symptoms as the 2020 Covid-19 flu. Is the Pandemic back? Are we facing another onslaught of medical crisis and therefore another wave of economic downturn?
