Income Expense Profit Chart: Looking Back Now

Generating charts from raw data has never been this easy if you're using LibreOffice. My goal of course is tracking that green line towards positive numbers. I'm nearing that goal unless something adverse happens.  -- Blogger since August 2007. Linux user since 2004. Fedora 23 Kernel 4.2 GNU/Linux

Tenant Security Deposits Accounting Treatment

Hi Reese Formerly, tenant deposits are treated as income when they  are received and expenses incurred when contract is terminated are recognized in the month contract is terminated which may be far apart.  The effect is income is overstated in the contract start and expenses are overstated in the month contract is terminated. No liability is shown for the amount of the deposit which is the real nature of the tenant  deposit.  So NOW, tenant deposit is recognized as liability. The liability is recognized for the life of the rental contract. It is discharged when  the contract is terminated. Any amount incurred as expense in excess of  the liability is Bad Debts.  Journal Entry: (1)Cash                                                                              XX.xx             Rental Income                                                                            XX.xx             Liability-Name of tenant-Deposit                                           XX.xx                    to

I have used Debian, Ubuntu and OpenSuse since 2007, hopping from one distribution to the other as long as I can find a spare PC or laptop. I really have settled on Fedora for personal taste and preferences. I like GNOME and Fedora brings GNOME fresh to my PC. Of course it  wasn't love at first sight a few releases back. Fedora's installer  needed work and important repos like for the NVIDIA drivers and  proprietary music and video codecs are difficult to enable. It wasn't  for somebody who's just starting out his journey in Linux land.  Since then, open source graphics drivers have changed the world for me. I don't hunt for drivers nowadays.
